BonCherry is a small bakery whose main goal is to spread love and happiness while creating quality desserts. Their pastries honor long-lasting family recipes with a wide variety of delicious cakes and traditional Dominican desserts. With their passion for sweets, they also add a flare of modernism and innovation through the process of decoration and overall flavoring of their pastries.
I designed a complete brand identity with a responsive logo suite for the business with the goals of helping them stand out from the competition and appeal to the right audience. They wanted to appeal to customers that value traditional recipes, whimsical desserts and the need to satisfy a sweet craving.
The Concept
The inspiration to design BonCherry's logo was born out of the owner's ambition to keep family traditions alive and their wish to spread joy through their pastries combining elegance and playfulness. My approach for the logo design was finding ways to make the cherry into a versatile icon, as it was a request from the client that the representation of a cherry played a part in the final design. The logotype design features a contrasting variation of thick and thin strokes to separate the word cherry. This last word also includes a delicate swirl in the tail of the letter "Y" as an abstract representation of the sugary merengue used to cover and decorate the cakes.
The touch of the swirl also plays a factor by helping the brand to identify as elegant yet playful. It tells the costumers that this is a trust-worthy bake shop that will provide a quality product with the "Wow Factor."
